Ruddi's RetreatThe aim of Ruddi's Retreat is to help families with seriously ill children have access to a holiday home for free!
We want to help families with young children suffering from the effects and after effects of Cancer Treatment, Life Limiting Illnesses or Bereavement to enjoy a family holiday together with minimal financial cost and maximum fun!
Ruddi's StoryWhen Ruddi was just six and a half months old he was diagnosed with a rare cancer. Following a year of intensive treatment including a three month stint in an American hospital, Ruddi finally went into remission.
For the two years whilst Ruddi was battling through the effects of Chemotherapy and all that comes with it, Candlelighters Charity kindly gave Ruddi and his family a one week holiday at Primrose Valley Caravan Park. This holiday helped the family to spend some much needed quality time together and was where Ruddi took his very first steps!
Unfortunately when a child enters remission most of the charitable funding is stopped, however the after effects on the family are sometimes only just beginning, thus making it more or less impossible to afford a holiday.
Ruddi’s Retreat are now proud owners of two beautiful static caravan’s at Primrose Valley in Filey, Yorkshire. The first caravan opened in February 2012, the second in June 2013. Both our caravans are fully modified to cater to the needs of their visitors.

Gwennie’s GetawaysRuddi's Retreat has helped so many families over the years and we just knew we had to help more! In 2016, after an extensive and thoughtful process of training and research we launched Gwennie’s Getaways.
Gwennie’s Getaways is committed to providing short term breaks to those with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia and their family or carers. Our two beautiful static caravans are based at Primrose Valley, a seaside resort on the East Coast in Filey. Each caravan is double glazed and has a full central heating system keeping it warm and cosy in the cooler months. They each have disabled access, two bathrooms and are fully equipped with the usual home comforts allowing for a comfortable and restful stay.
