Caravan Park + Local Area Information
|
Welcome to Low Glengyre Farm where the tranquility of the Southern Uplands will meet you on arrival! Sit in the living room, viewing the hills overlooking Loch Ryan and feel your holiday has just begun.
The Caravan....
The caravan is situated on a family-run dairy farm 7 miles from the town of Stranraer.
The caravan is fully equipped with everything you require for a 'home away from home'. To aide your hassle-free holiday, bed linen and towels are included in the price. And for the parents - a travel cot and highchair are available on request with no extra charge! Worried about the electricity and gas charge - don't be, it's included in the price too. Not only that, pets are welcome too.
Ever dreamed of truly enjoying the countryside - take the opportunity to feed our free-range hens, lift the eggs, try feeding the calves and explore the untouched glen located on your doorstep.
The children are welcome to use the children's slide and swings or play in the play house located in the garden next to the caravan.
We have a selection of home-grown vegetables, home-made soups, pork & free range eggs available for sale also.
About the Area....
Two villages with a shop, pub, bar meals & Post Office are only 2 miles from the farm. The main town in the area is Stranraer. Stranraer has many shops, restaurants and a leisure centre with children's play area and indoor pool. The local village has a new farm shop & tea room as well as trout fishing lake with rod hire for beginners.
It’s only 2hrs to Ireland by ferry HSS from Stranraer to Belfast. An interesting sea trip and a chance to sample a different country. The ferry operator also runs excursions to Ireland such as a visit to Belfast Zoo, the Giant’s Causeway or Bushmill’s Distillery.
The surrounding area is a gardeners dream, since the climate is influenced by the gulf stream there are several renowned gardens nearby these include Castle Kennedy, Ardwell, Glenwhan and possibly the best known Logan Gardens. Not to be missed also is Soleburn Garden Centre two miles away.
Portpatrick is just a short drive from the farm, it is a very popular fishing village, centred around the harbour with fishing boats and yachts tied up. Portpatrick also offers a wide variety of restaurants, bars, cafes and souvenir shops, there are some lovely walks along the cliff tops and around the village.
Excellent Sea- Fishing can be found not to far away from the farm. Loch Ryan offers shelter in most conditions, boat trips may be booked from Stranraer. The sports shop in Stranraer has a good supply of bait and fishing tackle for sea, game and coarse fishing.
At Glenluce there is Clay Shooting. Even if you have never had a go before they supply the complete package. Age limit 14+. There is also Paintballing available at Glenluce. Age limit 14+.
I hope this has whet your appetite for a holiday at Low Glengyre Farm - we look forward to hearing from you soon! Please remember, we were fully booked in 2009 so book early for 2010 to avoid disappointment!!
