Caravan Park + Local Area Information
|
Winchelsea Sands Holiday Park is situated in an ideal spot for many exciting things to do. Five minutes away is the historic town of Rye with its cobbled streets and quaint antique shops, there are also some very good places to eat and drink.
Rye Harbour is famous for its bird watching, certain times of the year you can watch the birds migrate. They also have there own bird sanctory. Rye holds a market every thursday, where many local farmers sell there produce, every year they hold a carnival, raft race and have an arts week.
Camber sands isnt far from Rye with its beautiful sandy beach, a great day out for the kids. Dungeness is also a short ride away, very famous for its fishing.
In the opposite direction, but still not far away is the other historic town of Hastings. It has a lovely stoney/sandy beach which is also excellent for fishing. It has a very modern shopping centre and an old town, where you can visit the old smugglers caves, or maybe you would like to watch the fishing boats come in and buy a fresh fish or two.
Hastings has many pubs, clubs and restaurants to visit, it has the White Rock theatre which hosts many shows and concerts.
Down the road in Bexhill there is the De La Warr pavillion, which hosts a large variety of entertainment, with sea views while enjoying a very civilised lunch or dinner.
For the more energetic of you there are numerous bike routes locally, fantastic walks in the Fairlight country park know locally as the fire hills.
There is also a naturist beach in Fairlight Glen. On bonfire night Battle is the place to be, organised by the bonfire society the displays are spectacular, with its finale right outside the abbey.
At night be amazed by the clarity of the stars, with our unpolluted skies it really is unmissable.
