The property

Heatherview Willerby is an appealing single-storey caravan situated in Stanhope, Durham, featuring parking for one car, a furnished deck, and sociable open-plan living.

With one double bedroom, two twin rooms, and a double sofa bed, the accommodation welcomes groups of up to eight, along with two well-behaved pets. Begin the day with a drink on the decking as everyone discusses where to explore first.

Back inside, the open-plan layout brings the kitchen, dining area, and sitting area into one shared setting.

Prepare breakfast with the oven and hob, pack a picnic using supplies stored in the fridge and freezer, or return later to cook an evening meal.

The dining area provides a natural gathering point, while the sitting area invites the group to choose a film on the Smart TV and watch the flames of the gas/electric fire flicker nearby. At the close of the evening, the double bedroom and two twin bedrooms offer flexible arrangements for families and friends.

Additional guests can use the double sofa bed, while a shower room with a walk-in shower and a separate cloakroom serve the group. Make Stanhope your first destination, visiting the Durham Dales Centre, seeking out the fossil tree, and enjoying the landscape beside the River Wear.

In Bishop Auckland, step into County Durham’s past at Auckland Castle, stroll through the surrounding parkland, and discover the area’s industrial story at Killhope Lead Mining Museum.

Continue to Durham, where the family can admire Durham Cathedral, explore artefacts and artworks at the Oriental Museum, and wander among the varied displays at Durham University Botanic Garden.

Riverside routes through the city provide another way to see its historic architecture, while the countryside around Weardale opens the door to outdoor adventures and scenic family outings. Create a holiday filled with shared journeys and fireside evenings at Heatherview Willerby.

About the location

BISHOP AUCKLAND

Durham 11 miles;

Bishop Auckland is a busy market town, 11 miles to the south of Durham and is home to the Gothic palace of Auckland Castle and deer park, a 900 year old medieval hunting lodge and grounds, once home to the Prince Bishop’s of England. Bishop Auckland offers a thriving arts and cultural scene with a cinema, theatre and arts complex. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the town centre and an abundance of shops to peruse. On the outskirts of the town you can discover the secrets of the largest Roman Fort in the county at Binchester or perhaps book a night at Kynren, a spectacular night show depicting the history of England, seen through the eyes of Arthur, a 10 year old boy from the North East, (opening July 2016) and marvel at the pyrotechnics, stunning lighting and water effects. There is a scenic railway line which runs from Bishop Auckland to Stanhope. It was purchased quite recently by Jonathan Ruffer the man behind the Auckland Project and instrumental in bringing Kynren to Bishop Auckland. The city of Durham is just a short drive north with an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, and a little further will take you to the Roman town of Chester-le-Street or Beamish Museum. A little further afield you can discover the Durham Dales, Newcastle upon Tyne, Hadrian's Wall, the Heritage Coast, Cragside at Rothbury and the North York Moors; there’s something for everyone.
