“Our caravan was in a peaceful area of the park, amongst the trees.”

We were near the yellow trail that took us up through the woods to the waterfall, which was beautiful. In the other direction it was a 10 minute walk (with a 90 year old in tow????) to the Restaurant and play area (but the 90 year old didn’t use the play area????) Staff in the restaurant are friendly and polite, and take time to chat if they are not busy. Staff at the site office on the other hand, when needed, were useless. I contacted the Duty Warden myself when I needed assistance ...

I contacted the Duty Warden myself when I needed assistance. Our caravan was clean and comfortable. We did have a couple of issues, but Martin did not fail to reply to messages or phone calls immediately, to help resolve the issue. The double bed was very comfortable for my elderly mother, and the en-suite gave her added convenience. The two other bedrooms both had 2 x small single beds, suitable for adults and children. The living area was lovely, as was the very well equipped kitchen. The ONLY thing missing was a dining area big enough for 4 to eat together. There is a small dining table with 2 chairs. However, this was not a problem for our party as the weather was pleasant enough to sit at the picnic bench outside. The heating system was very easy to use…..just a dial to turn heating up or down. We only used it briefly in the mornings and in the evenings, as my parents feel the cold. The place warms up so quickly, so only needed half an hour of heating. Outside there are a couple of places to sit. The steps from the caravan are quite narrow, and can be slippy when wet, but my mum negotiated them well, and she is using a walking stick. Aberdunant Hall Park itself is breathtaking. There are so many streams cross-crossing the site, with little bridges over them, beautiful woodland, lovely views, well manicured lawns near the Restaurant, with some quirky decorative garden structures. There is a large play area to keep children entertained, and this is within view of the bar terraces. Roads are all well maintained, with a one way system in place for certain areas. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

About the location

PRENTEG

Porthmadog 4 miles.

The small village of Prenteg stands at the foot of the Moel Ddu Mountain, close to Tremadog Bay, and is surrounded by the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. Historically a slate and copper mining community, the village is today renowned for the regular sightings of Wales' only nesting Osprey. Just 4 miles away, aside the Glaslyn Estuary, the bustling harbour town of Pothmadog is alive with an exciting marina and an array of individual shops and restaurants, whilst being home to the historic Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Heritage Railway. The picturesque cliffs and coves and enormous Black Rock Beach makes for an idyllic day out, whilst the fabulous Italianate village of Portmeirion is a must. With the medieval castles at nearby Criccieth, Harlech and Caernarfon and a host of excellent walking and cycling opportunities within easy reach, this is an ideal location for enjoying all that Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula have to offer. Several beautiful sandy beaches can be found within a 10-20 minute drive. Harlech beach where the golden sands are 4 miles long, backed by a fantastic dune system and one of North Wales’ best golf courses (Royal St David’s), Borth-y-Gest, a hidden gem, Shell Island, Black Rock Sands, and we can’t forget Porthdinllaen, where a walk around the picturesque peninsula takes you to the Ty Coch Inn on the beach, rated one of the top 10 best beach bars in the world. There is an abundance of great beaches on the Llyn Peninsula including Porth Oer Beach, known as Whistling Sands due to the way the sand “squeaks” under your feet which is also a great spot for surfing/body boarding and a great beach café.
