“What a beautiful part of the world, The 'Time Out' caravan is the perfect base for day trips to all the local coastal villages and of course Whitby town, all within a ten mile radius.”

You do need good legs for some of the inclines from the car parks to the beaches but it's well worth it. And once back at the caravan you can relax in the quiet countryside setting, with short walks along the lanes with the dog into the town. It is in a farm type setting so the one day of rest I had at the van all day, the tractor is about, and a few activities in the barn sawing abd loading logs, the site owners have three dogs of there own and the Black Labrador is sometimes running free on ...

You do need good legs for some of the inclines from the car parks to the beaches but it's well worth it. And once back at the caravan you can relax in the quiet countryside setting, with short walks along the lanes with the dog into the town. It is in a farm type setting so the one day of rest I had at the van all day, the tractor is about, and a few activities in the barn sawing abd loading logs, the site owners have three dogs of there own and the Black Labrador is sometimes running free on site, abd the owners children are around at the weekend and after school, playing quite close to the caravan, so if you have your own dog this can be a tiny bit of a nuisance but these occurrences were minimal and short lived. All in all a wonderful setting, two pubs in Hinderwell where the caravan is (not sure why it's listed as Saltburn by the sea because that's 10 mile away!) The Badgers Dog does an exceptional Sunday lunch, and the Brown Cow was brilliant for proper Yorkshire banter. If you meet Danny in there in the afternoons ask him about his lucky rock.

The property

Heading into the 7th year of hiring this holiday home out we have learnt the visitors are the kind who enjoy walking , photography, fishing, fossil hunting, beach walks and our local unique fishing villages and quite importantly a quiet site.

The Village has 2 bars and a family butchers, the butchers shop also sells daily newspapers and other basic provisions.

There is a CO OP store in Staithes which is less than a 5 min drive from the site and has a free ATM machine outside. Our visitors have mentioned repeatedly in our visitor book that the caravan was homely and well equipped and well situated in the hidden quiet corner of the village. Our photographs on this web page show the fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay which are only a mile away by road or you can take a cliff top walk to them. Runswick Bay has been a real favourite for those who bring there dog(s) as the beach offers a great space for your dog to run free.

A local tide table book is provided for our visitors to let them know when the high and low tide is. We have made it hassle free upon your arrival.

You will find the key there for you, your beds made up and tea, coffee, biscuits and juices to await you. Historical Whitby town is 8 miles away and the town now offers a Park and ride 4 and miles further south of Whitby is the old smugglers / fishing village of Robin Hood bay. The outside garden which includes a seating and table area gives our guests privacy and also allows your pet a secure space outside. We have also provided local maps and some very useful information to get your holiday started quickly. The village has 2 bars who serve food and are also dog friendly.

We can also recommend eating out in the fishing village of Staithes ( 20 min walk over the cliff tops or a 5 min drive) and when on a fine day you can enjoy your food outside looking over the harbour.

TV / DVD player in the main bedroom and living area / All the cooking utensils you will need / a large collection of books for all tastes. Electric blanket fitted and hot water bottles provided. The large pine dining table can fold down giving you more floor space if needed. Car parking is directly in front of the caravan

About the location

No village

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
