Devon cliffs states it is dog friendly, but this is not the case. Couldn't take dogs inside anywhere & not allowed on beach. Paid for passes for free swimming, but extra activities you still have to pay for, so very expensive. Staff were friendly & kids enjoyed the arcades. The food on site was ridiculously expensive, cheaper to go out as some lovely pins around. The caravan had amazing view of the sea from decking area, however sadly the caravan was not clean when we arrived. There was empty packets of crisp/coke bottles down side of sofa. The toilet was disgusting, with dry urine around the base. The utensils were dirty, some broken! Sofa stank of dry urine. Doors did not close without force. Dead ants everywhere!! We spent 1st day cleaning, which was not what we wanted to do on holiday. Shame there were no personal touches when we arrived also, no toilet roll, tea towels etc. We had to go out & buy things, whereas previously in caravans we have rented they have this for the start of the holiday. Unable to complain until we were home due to no internet or signal, owner thanked us for feedback. Honestly after paying £1250, this caravan was not up to standard & disappointed that nothing was offered back to us when it is such a lot of money. Will not stay here again. ????
Thank you for your review. However, this review is pretty below the belt and very inaccurate.
Firstly, I have no control over the cost of food at Haven or the price of playpasses and the fact you have to pay extra for certain activities. To add that as a negative against my caravan is unfair. Devon cliffs allows dogs to be walked around the site and there is a beautiful coastal walk along the cliffs down to Exmouth Beach where dogs are allowed during the summer.
Secondly, I never heard a word from you about how clean the caravan was on your arrival, you claim in your review you couldnt alert me to any issues because of lack of signal but you can get free wifi in the main complex so an email or text message could have been sent. If I had received this on the first day when you had arrived I would have of course sent my cleaner round to inspect and reclean if necessary. You also stated you went off site for food so a phone call could also have been made then. You did not send me any photos of the crisp packs or empty drink bottles that you claim were down the side of the sofa or dead ants everywhere as you claim. I got sent a few photos of a few crumbs on the floor and a tiny amount of what looks like sand under a sofa cushion. I can not comment on the smell in the bathroom or the sofa but if it was not up to standard you should have made the effort to contact me and this would have been rectified straight away. Unfortunately caravans do move and resettle so this would have been the reason you were unable to close certain doors fully. Again if you had contacted me about this I could have sent maintenance around to fix this issue immediately. No one else had complained about this issue so I can only assume this happened during your stay. Also stating there were broken utensils, again no one else had mentioned this to me, and if you had during your stay Haven would have come and replaced what was broken. My caravan does state that only bedding is provided, unfortunately we can not provide the "personal touches" such as tea towels because people in the past have walked off with them. However, we do make sure there are cleaning supplies provided so you can keep the caravan clean and tidy to stop ants coming in. Unfortunately, ants are a slight issue at Devon cliffs due to the sandy soil its based on. We do tell all our guests not to leave any dirty plates on the side or unsealed foods as this will attract ants especially when it's a warm day.
I unfortunately can not offer any refund if you do not contact me on the day of arrival if you are unhappy with how clean the caravan was. Like I stated above, this could have be done via text message or email from the main complex where there is free guest wifi.
