We enjoyed our stay, the park itself, its facilities, and the caravan and its location are great!
However, I would recommend a very thorough check over the caravan before and after you arrive.
We were accused by the owner of breaking something on the sofa - which we categorically did not. He didn't reply to my email regarding clarification of what the actual breakage was, and a very vague photograph was provided with his claim against the security deposit.
He also claimed for additional cleaning, part of which we understood, but the other issue stated was having to shampoo the carpet, and showed a photograph of dirty water in a rug doctor. My issue with this, is that if shampooing the carpet is not routine, then this was not just caused by us and is a build up of however many guests before us.
It's unfortunate that you cannot appeal against a claim made on the security deposit, and a shame that this spoiled our break, Otherwise we would have probably returned.
Hi Alison,
Thanks for submitting your review. It is unfortunate that you had suffered which was probably an accident with stains to the carpet and sofa. Please understand things from my point of view. The accidents that happened were not as a consequence of my negligence or failure to provide a safe and clean environment.
As an owner I accept there will be accidents and breakages. I don’t see these as opportunities to make more money. I have to maintain the standard of quality, cleanliness and hygiene for all my guests. I invest a lot of money in making sure it is the best it can be.
In case of a spill my cleaner need ed extra time and money to shampoo the carpet. You cannot shampoo carpets on a regular basis as this wears them out, so they are shampooed when necessary.
The arm of the sofa was damaged and was wobbly. Haven’s engineers managed to fix the problem and make the arm stable at a cost of £45. The arm was definitely not damaged prior to your arrival as the cleaners scrutinise the fixtures and fittings at every clean.. The additional cleaning cost £30. Hence the deposit clawback of £75.
As the caravan was not dry when the next guest moved in I had to compensate them for the lack of enjoyment they had to put up with during their stay.
It was also apparent that the carpet stain could not be removed which meant I had to buy a new rug as an interim measure at £99 and take a 250 mile round trip to lay it. The carpet needs to be replaced . Initial estimates are around £400 . I am not asking you to pay any of this and accept that this is the price of doing business.
I realise that this has impacted your memories of your holiday but please understand I am the innocent party . I do not bear any ill will or grievance. This won’t be the last time spills occur. I would just like guests to be honourable and admit the accident rather than me having to spend days and a lot of money rectifying things after, especially in the high peak holiday season when the caravan is fully booked.
I hope you understand my position.
Regards
Tim
