Just returned from our extended stay at Jemma’s van and have had a wonderful time! The van itself is absolutely superb and is very much a home from home, it has all the mod cons you are likely to need during your stay, including a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. It has a fantastic cooker with 5 top rings and all new clean cooking tins and pans. Following on from an earlier rental of a caravan a few years ago, I always take along one of my “sharp” knives, as was very disappointed that no knives were sharp enough to cut bread, tomatoes, cucumber etc. My knife didn’t get used once as there was an excellent selection of small medium and large knives that were very sharp. Although the booking was initially just for us as a couple, due to the passing of our 22 month old Grandson, we asked if his toddler brother could be included on our booking, and Jemma very kindly offered us her van for an extra 4 nights, we were quite overwhelmed by such kindness and in the end our daughter and son in law came too for just 3 nights, which gave them a welcome break from their home where the grief does become very overwhelming. Mylo, our grandson had a wonderful time and said more than once that “I want to stay here forever” He was so excited to have his own tv in his bedroom - all 3 bedrooms have wall mounted tv’s. At back of van is a lovely maintained grassed area where we played frisbee or football once back at the van after a day of being out and about, he was loving life, despite him expressing every day how he was missing his brother. The van is situated in a lovely quiet area of the Park, but only a few minutes stroll to the shop, amusements and the food outlets - there is a Papa Johns, a takeaway fish and chip shop and a sit in restaurant (mash and barrel) which we ate at a couple of times - the reviews of which are somewhat negative but on both occasions we ate in here the service was very friendly and efficient and the food was very tasty, hot, and really couldn’t understand why the negative comments were a plenty., so don’t get put off as we honestly found it really good. We didn’t try the fish and chips whilst we were there, but our daughter and son in law had Papa Johns deliver to them on one of the evenings they stayed and they loved it! The walk to the Beach takes a while longer to get to but it’s a pleasant stroll through the park, and the Esplanade is so quiet and gives for a lovely walk into town. The first time we went to go on the beach the tide was out and as we reached the bottom of the steps to go onto the sand we got told not to go onto the beach due to quicksand which could prove very dangerous! Very good to have someone watching over the entire beach and being able to direct instructions through a loudspeaker system, but it did make us jump haha. Back to the van, there is a huge wrap around decking area and was so relaxing to sit out of an evening, so peaceful and really gets you in the holiday mood. Out the front there is a small table with 2 chairs plus 2 bucket seats, and along the side outside of the kitchen door is a very large table complete with 6 chairs for al fresco dining. I can honestly say the only thing that was missing was a duster! I hope I left the van in as clean a condition as when we arrived, I did go through and clean it all and would I recommend anyone hiring your van for a welcome break in a lovely park? Most definately, it’s modern, clean, homely, and definately delivers the wow factor. Thankyou so much Jemma x
