Our lovely lodge, The Oaks (No. 127), is detached, less than one year old, stylishly decorated and is located in an open position in Woodlands Park which is ideally situated near the beautiful harbour town of New Quay in Ceredigion.. Woodlands is very popular with dog owners and is particularly dog friendly. The park is located in a secluded valley surrounded by native woodland and there is a lovely walk in the adjacent woods just a few minutes away from the lodge.
The area offers numerous outdoor activities such as fishing, surf boarding and paddleboarding. There are popular cycling routes and a fabulous coast path that meanders along some fantastic and diverse coastline. It is famous for its seals and dolphin spotting boat trips from the harbour and New Quay itself is like going back in time - a charming, unspoilt seaside resort with its pretty harbour, shops, ice cream parlours, fish and chip shops and nice cafes and eateries.
The Oaks sleeps up to 4 guests and comprises two bedrooms each with ensuite bathroom, open plan kitchen, dining and living area offering a large social area with patio doors leading onto your private south facing deck for alfresco dining, or you can eat and relax inside in the spacious living area watching the huge TV (main streaming services available including Alexa)
It is just the place to catch up with some home cooking or take-away (shops in New Quay and Aberaeron stock excellent frozen meals) relaxing after a full day out and about exploring the wonderful local area. There is parking for two cars right outside the lodge and a garage with Spa shop two miles away for the essentials. The lodge has an open view across the park to the trees on the other side of the valley. and sometimes the rabbits come out of the wood to play. Nice suntrap of a sitting area on the 5 sided patio extension with patio furniture and sun umbrella - ideal for eating out at any time. . Chill out with a glass of something cold and some nibbles and maybe watch the sunset in the evening or have breakfast outside and listen to the wonderful birdsong.
The two bedrooms sleep four persons with a king sized bed and two full size singles. The ensuite to the main bedroom has a full sized bath, the second ensuite has a shower. TV's in both rooms (yes there are 3 altogether!) as well. Mirrored wardrobe doors in main bedroom.
Fully centrally heated and well equipped with all the kitchen utensils and appliances you need. Large American ice making fridge freeze - enjoy the chilled, filtered water (great for making a proper nice mug of tea) with crushed or cubed ice on tap - microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, gas hob and oven and dishwasher. Separate washer/dryer in the utility room but there is also a payable launderette on-site with washers and dryers You should have everything you need for your break including bed linen and towels at no extra cost.
There are paths through the woods for everyone, including pets, to enjoy - mountain biking is possible for the intrepid - or just stroll to the river through the park to the woods beyond.
Visit the local Cei Bach beach - 30 mins walk each way or drive - 20 mins in the car there and back. It’s a sweeping bay with a long, stony beach - great for dogs and not usually crowded.
Don’t forget to take trips out to Aberaeron with its artisan shops, harbour and famous honey ice cream (there is a also a local honey farm near New Quay), Aberystwyth with its comprehensive shopping (lots of lovely independent shops), evocative Victorian promenade and Camera Obscura and Cardigan with its pretty High Street, Theatr Mwldan and steam railway.
The Oaks is a lovely place to come away to and we think it is ideally situated to enjoy the surrounding areas and the wonderful coastal villages and towns of Mid Wales.
Please note the reviews below refer to our older, smaller lodge which we rented out last year before upgrading to this new one however we are still passionate about giving our guests the best service we can.
