Family With Older Children

Date of stay - 27 May 2023 - 3 Jun 2023

Wow this caravan was so well presented and clean compared to others we have stayed in previously. Everything felt very new and we were greated with a welcome basket of tea, coffee biscuits, etc which was really nice to see. The kitchen had everything we needed including sharp knives (which is rare to find in a caravan) and decent sized pans for cooking (although we didn't cook that much). The owner was lovely and answered all my questions. The shower thermostat didn't work well but we worked out by turning the hot water down on the boiler it solved the problem and I'm sure the owner will get this minor issue sorted out when possible. The beds were ok for a caravan and more comfortable than previous caravans we have hired but typically with most caravans not the best but we expected that we weren't going to get a 2000 pocket sprung mattress and I managed to sleep so that was a bonus. We had to bring our own sheets which was fine and we brought our own pillows for comfort. There's no WIFI and reception for mobile data was sketchy much to the kids disappointment however there were some games and DVD's to keep us entertained and most days we were out and about anyway so not a problem. The caravan is located very near to the park so for our younger kids aged 9 and 11 this was a bonus as they could go and play while we sat and had a coffee. The park itself was lovely and catered for small ones and bigger kids and featured a small skate park for skate boards, bikes and scooters (although electric scooters are not allowed). It also felt safe enough to let the kids play by themselves together. The caravan park Unity (previously Unity Farm) is a lovely and clean but massive park and it's basically a joint venture of businesses in one place. It also has a huge camping /touring field. It sits opposite the beach at Brean between John Fowler and Pontins. There's a huge swimming pool complex with water slides and entry is obtained via pre booking on the Unity app at a reduced rate for guests and then showing your entertainment/priority passes at the door. The entertainment passes give you entry to the two entertainment bars onsite for evening entertainment but they were so busy we couldn't get a table which wasn't a huge disappointment for us but if going I recommend you go early to get a table especially during school holidays. There's also a theme park but it was very overpriced and there's a small indoor play area if you have small children. The Weekend market was nice to wonder around. The fish and chips onsite were really nice but more expensive than what we are used to paying and smaller portions. There are other fish and chip shops locally but after a long 5.5 hour journey on our first day I was too hungry to go searching. There are many takeaways on the park but also there's a Hungry Horse near Tesco and a Weatherspoons in Burnham on Sea a few miles down the road opposite the beach near B&M. There is a convenience shop onsite but extortionate prices however CoOp was a short drive down the road towards Burnham on Sea. The nearest supermarket was Lidl in Burnham on Sea and Tesco a little further away but there's also a big Asda in Highbridge that does click and collect. Burnham on Sea was really nice it has a family run cafe and a fresh donut stand on the esplanade. We visited Cheddar Gorge, Bath (Jane Austen Centre) and Bristol Aquarium but missed the Thatchers Visitor centre down the road! We only saw it on the last evening of our holiday whilst looking for a nice pub to have dinner. I highly recommend The Coach House Inn (BS24 8DG) which had really lovely food if you want a nice village pub. Overall we had a lovely time on our first visit to Somerset and first summer holiday in years. If we decide to come back I's have no problem staying in this caravan or at Unity again.

Thank you for a lovely review it makes all the hard work worth it I can confirm that the thermostat has now been sorted we would welcome you and your family back any time
