I admit to being a little nervous booking during the post lockdown period having read some reviews on Trip Advisor for the Haven Caravan parks caravan cleanliness, and chose a privately owned caravan for this reason. We were delighted with both the condition and the cleanliness of the accommodation when we arrived. The caravan is really high end and well kept. The dishwasher and washing machine were much appreciated, having to self cater a fair bit owing to struggles getting meals out. The en suite to the master bedroom also made things a lot quicker getting us all out early for the day too! The position of this caravan is at the very back of the park, adjoining adjoining farmland, so really peaceful, yet we were pleasantly surprised to also have a sea view owing to its elevated position. Wonderful sunsets. A fairly heavy storm blew in for a couple of days, but we were sound and snug at night. It was very solid! There’s no faffing swapping gas tanks as it’s piped into the mains supply, and we did have to test the central heating one night (August...I know!) as it was very chilly, but it worked superbly.
The park itself, whilst not our typical choice of holiday location, is quiet with generally well behaved children. The shop is well stocked, but we didn’t try any of the leisure facilities - not our scene really that’s all. The beach is nice for a walk although probably too rocky and muddy for sitting. Mine head further South West is much better. The park is positioned on the Somerset Coastal path so there is some excellent walking around, and some nice country pubs (book ahead though!). The Windmill, the Butchers Arms and the White Horse being our favourites. Watchet centre was a bit ‘closed’ but this may have been due to the Coronavirus issues. Dunster Castle and village, The Torre Cider Farm, Cleeve Abbey, Exmoor villages and Tropiquairia were all superb.
The only slight inconvenience was having to take our own bedding and towels which took a fair bit of space in car, but I guess this was due to the Coronavirus restrictions, but we stayed in accommodation the week before where it was all provided, so I think this varies from place to place.
All in all, a wonderful caravan, and a great base in a peaceful location to explore this beautiful area.
Thank you for your very good review. We're pleased you enjoyed your stay you certainly seemed to have explored the area well. With Regards bed linen and towels, we use a cleaning service who have undertaken coronavirus training and follow Haven's guidelines not to handle bedding or towels. We understand this may present a slight inconvenience for some but we believe it is right to take every precaution possible to prevent the spread of coronavirus and this would have been fully explained to you and all guests prior to arrival. Many thanks Terry and Julie.
