It has been announced today (24th June) that Scotland's holiday homes can start taking bookings from 5th July. This is great news, and I very much look forward to welcoming visitors again to my lovely holiday lodge.
I have always kept the lodge scrupulously clean for my visitors, but for the foreseeable future I will also be disinfecting all hard surfaces. Because of this, I will - temporarily - change the arrival time to 5pm (instead of the 3pm entry I have always maintained). This will ensure I have time for the deep-clean. Departure time will remain at 11am.
This highly-maintained, beautiful timber lodge is set amongst some of the most spectacular scenery in Scotland.
A luxury shower room has been fitted, and there is a large lounge/dining room with lovely views over the Holy Loch. The lodge has two bedrooms; one double and one twin, and so sleeps four people.
The kitchen has been fitted with a dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave and full-sized cooker with grill. All the crockery, cutlery and utensils have been chosen with care, and you will find everything you could possibly need.
There is a huge deck outside, wrapping more than three-quarters of the way round the lodge. The deck at the back of the lodge is under cover, allowing you to take in the views and relax, whatever the weather. There is a table with four chairs, and a large Calorgas-fired barbecue. A further two large benches, and two unique seats made out of whisky barrels, mean that you will never be short of seating!
The lounge has a 32" LCD Free-view TV, as well as a DVD player and hi-fi. I have also fitted an electric heater for those days and nights when it could be chilly. There are also electric wall heaters throughout the lodge.
Electricity is provided by a pre-payment meter, and for a seven-night stay there will be a minimum of £20 in the meter when you arrive, and for a three-night stay there will be £10. If required, further electricity can be paid for using the pre-payment key at any of the "Pay Point" outlets in the area.
All bed linen is provided, and your beds will be made up and ready for your arrival. I have also provided books, DVDs, CDs, games, a sewing kit, first aid box, hair-dryer, iron and ironing board for your convenience. Towels are not provided.
This is altogether a beautiful lodge, and I am very proud of it. I know you won't be disappointed with the accommodation, the holiday park or the area. The Hunter's Quay Holiday Village is a beautifully landscaped park, where most of the lodges and caravans are privately owned.
It is a quiet holiday park, but has a social club, restaurant, shop and launderette. There is also a swimming pool, badminton, table tennis, snooker and children's play area available at an additional cost. New attractions are regularly being added. There is free WiFi in the leisure centre.
The nearby town of Dunoon has a cinema, a good shopping area and many restaurants. It also has a pier, from where (from June to the end of August) you can sail on The Waverley - a beautiful paddle steamer which has been lovingly restored to its former glory and sails to various destinations throughout the summer months.
Facilities near the holiday village include quad biking, rock climbing and abseiling, golf, fishing, pony trekking, kayaking/sailing/wind surfing. It is also a perfect base for hill walking - and for exploring the gorgeous scenery of Scotland.
