River Valley Country Park is well situated to explore West Cornwall. The towns of Penzance, Helston, Camborne and Hayle are all within easy reach. The market town of Penzance is the last stop on the old Great Western train line, home to Cornwall's only promenade and the Jubilee Pool, Britain's largest outdoor lido. Newlyn is famous as a maritime and fishing centre. Helston is associated with the 'floral dance' and nearby is Flambards Theme Park. The Camborne area is particularly linked with mining history heritage and the famous Cornish inventor Richard Trevithick.
Other places of special interest include Lands End (18 miles approx), St Ives - host of the 2021 G7 Summit, home of the Tate Modern Art Gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Museum (10 miles approx), Marazion - and the world famous site of St Michael's Mount (3 miles approx) Porthcurno - carved into the rugged cliffs sits the Minack Theatre (15 miles approx), Botallack Mine & Cot Valley - Poldark territory with magnificent coastal path and engine houses (15 miles approx), The Lizard - Britain’s most south-westerly land point boasting its own stunning views (20 miles approx).
Slightly further afield are the towns of Falmouth, home of the National Maritime Museum, and Newquay - the surfing capital of the UK. For those who want to enjoy the waves closer to the site the beaches at Praa Sands (south coast) or Gwithian (north coast) are probably the best - both about 10 miles away. Other great beaches can be found at St Ives, Porthcurno, Sennen and the year round dog-friendly beach at Long Rock near Penzance.
Detailed information of local amenities and places of interest can be found at the site reception. Due to the current circumstances, we would recommend advanced booking for any meals/ activities/ entertainment you will require.
We can reassure guests that the van will be comprehensively cleaned between bookings and fresh bed linen provided. Guests will be asked to follow some simple procedures to minimise risk of infection, details of which will be provided. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL of our van and our hospitality. When your trip has come to an end please leave the place as you would like to find it as if YOU were cleaning it! We have had previous guests leave toilets dirty, the microwave ridden with spilt food, stains on the carpets and bins not emptied. As a result of this, we have had to introduce A £50 CLEANING FEE IF THE VAN IS LEFT IN AN UNACCEPTABLE CONDITION.
