Our holiday caravan is set within seven acres of private land, in quiet countryside with panoramic views, three miles from the delightful and charming market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland. Heights Castle offers the perfect location for a quiet break in this stunning corner of Cumbria away from the crowds, or as an ideal base for exploring the Eden Valley, the breathtaking Lake District, or the beautiful Yorkshire Dales national park (which is on our doorstep).
Situated on the River Eden and home to a well-preserved Norman castle, Appleby is the former County town of Westmorland, and is known across the world for its famous Horse Fair which takes place each June, when a large number of the gypsy and traveller community gather from across the country - and further afield - in order to trade and race horses.
A visit to Appleby provides you with the opportunity to play golf, go swimming, fishing or walking - the town is located close to the routes of both the Pennine Way and the Coast To Coast Walk - or you could take a trip on the famous Settle to Carlisle railway which runs through the town, and regularly features steam trains. The line passes within one mile of Heights Castle itself.
The holiday caravan sleeps up to six in total - one double bedroom, two twin beds, and one pull-out bed The caravan is equipped with a gas cooker and water heater, microwave, shower and toilet, TV, DVD player, gas fire and fridge. There is plenty of private car parking beside the van. Bed linen is supplied.
All dogs and pets are very welcome, all we ask is that they are kept off the furniture!
A shop, restaurant and takeaway are all located near the village of Great Ormside, about 1.5 miles away. There are pubs in nearby Great Asby and also in Appleby.
