About the owner

Hi, I am Rachel, co owner of Tranquility and Serenity Lodges with my husband David. We have owned the lodges for about 4 years and use them for our holidays and a bolt hole when we need a bit of peace and quiet. We chose the names because of the peacefulness and calm , and like the balcony of infinity in Italy, time seems to stand still , giving us time to recompose and renew ourselves. It is our desire to be able to share this with others, and when allowed we have hosted retreats in the lodges and now make them available for others to enjoy. We hope you will enjoy our home from home lodges too.

Our privately owned lodge provides everything you need to enjoy a relaxing break away from your busy life. The lodge is situated on the west coast of Cumbria surrounded by beautiful views of the lake, sea and mountains. It is a walkers paradise and we therefore accept 2 well behaved dogs).

We have priced the lodge breaks as weekly and Monday to Friday or Friday to Monday. We are, however flexible with our letting dates, so if you wish alternative start dates please contact us for prices and availability.
There is a minimum of 2 nights policy at the lodge.
A £50 booking deposit is required to secure your dates, please note that this is non refundable if you have to cancel.

What is there to do?

The park itself houses water sports on the lake including a new inflatable labyrinth (prices not included), fly fishing and a play park for children. The RSPB Hodbarrow Nature Reserve just a 5 minute walk ( a dog walkers paradise).

Only a 15 minutes drive away is one of our personal favourite beaches at Silecroft. The unique village of Ulverston is just a 40 minute drive with lots of lovely places to eat (we suggest trying Naaz, an Indian cuisine).
Lake Coniston is a 50 minute drive and Lake Windermere just over an hour or if you prefer a quieter lake then Wast Water is only 50 minutes from the park.

If you like trains and the railway Ravenglass is a great place to go with only a 30 minute drive, a great pub we recommend; The Ratty Arms and a small gauge steam railway, also Millom has a train station going from Preston to Carlisle via Whitehaven; this, we find, is a lovely train ride, with Carlisle being a great place to shop and Whitehaven having a great harbour for crabbing and also several streets of shops both unique and chain. Barrow is a 50 minute drive and a fantastic place to go for shopping, it has its own market and theatre which is worth checking out.

If you just enjoy a ride out or looking at breath taking mountainous views there is The Hardknott Pass or The Wrynose Pass, both of which are beautiful, or if you're feeling more energetic try climbing the Scafell Pike which is less than an hours drive away. Or have a round of golf at Silecroft or try out the heavy horses with a gallop on the beach.

Where are some great places to eat?

Millom has a wide selection of different cuisines; Indian, Chinese, Fish and Chips etc. Da Vinci Restaurant is highly recommended. We also recommend Naaz at Ulverston and The Ratty Arms at Ravenglass, as previously mentioned. If you like steak the King Billy at KirkSanton should not be missed.

These are only a few suggestions and there will be many more leaflets and recommendations in the Lodge upon your stay.

Just had a fantastic stay at the lodge. Very spacious and clean with everything you need for a week away. The outside space is an added bonus which our Chihuahua loved being able to run in and out in the nice weather. The site itself was very a very nice place to walk around and quiet. We tried the local chippy one day and I can honestly say it was one of the best I have had for a very long time. All in all a relaxing week in a very good lodge, thank you for having us.

Thank you Kim for your lovely review, we are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the lodge and you liked tbe area too. We agree the fish and chips are very good!!! We would love to welcome you back again if you'd like to come this way again. Many thanks Rachel

Second time we have visited the lodge for our holiday and I can honestly say it’s the most perfect place in the world. The lodge is perfect and has everything needed, loads of space and welcomes the four legged members of the family too, but the area the lodge is in is just remarkable. It’s so peaceful with so much to do, we always seem to run out of time! The setting is brilliant. It’s so quiet at night and no silly bright lights or anything, plus the bed and the bedding is luxury! Visiting again over Christmas and that definitely won’t be the last time! Lovely touches with the pint of milk and biscuits too, my little one munched all them while I was unpacking! Thanks again!

Thank you Jodie for your lovely review. It is a pleasure having you to stay and we are thrilled that you love the lodge and area as much as we do. Looking forward to having you stay again at Christmas. Many thanks Rachel

Had a lovely week in this lodge and (Serenity) certainly lives up to the name, so quiet and peaceful. The lodge was lovely and clean when we arrived and there was everything we needed provided. We had lovely weather (heatwave) and got out and about in the area. Lovely lakeside walk around Hodbarrow Nature Reserve and Duddon Estuary. The beach at Haverigg is lovely for the dogs to have a run around. The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway trip and Millom to Whitehaven on the train lovely days out and scenery beautiful. We visited Ulverston which is very nice and drove to Barrow (Earnsie Beach) which is also very nice for the dogs to have a run. There is lots of interesting local history. The owners were very quick to reply to all our emails and Milk and Biscuits for when we arrived went down very well. Would definitely recommend.

Thank you Peter for your lovely review. We are thrilled you had a lovely time and enjoyed the lodge and the area. Should you wish to return, you will be very welcome. Many thanks Rachel.

We have just come back from the most amazing stay at Serenity! I booked it last min and the hosts were lovely, very prompt in responding and the information booklet was brilliant as there were lots of fun things to do and information about the local area . There were 5 of us who stayed 3 adults 2 kids (17 and 6) and 2 small dogs, we all agreed it was the best sleep we have had in ages! The beds are so comfortable. The photos don't do the lodge justice it is absolutely beautiful and has everything you need, the hosts had also left a pint of milk and chocolates for our arrival which was a nice touch. I will certainly be booking here again. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Serenity by name and serenity by nature, lovely spacious lodge with home comforts. Stayed for a weekend with elderly Mum and 19 month Granddaughter and not forgetting our labrador dog. Accessible for a pram, plenty of indoor and outdoor space although the weather wasn't great for sitting out. A lovely welcome pack, ideal to get that brew after the motorway journey. An ideal break to get away from it all. Little light pollution so on a clear night such a beautiful star filled sky. Excellent communication from Rachel, and speedy return of bond payment. Would definitely stay again.

Thank you Lisa for your lovely review. We are so pleased you had a great time despite the weather and enjoyed the lodge and area. Would love to welcome you back again.

Thank you Rachel ! We All enjoyed our stay in your lovely lodge and would love to return in the future. The lodge was Beautiful and well equipped. The location was ideal for exploring the western Lakes, but the location of the lodge itself is ideal with it being close enough to everything with the feeling of being miles away. The whole experience was a pleasure and all information was provided well in advance and the welcome pack was very helpful with suggestions of where to eat and activities. We would have no hesitation recommending both the Lodge and the owners as everything was faultless and we personally would love to return.

The lodge has exceeded our expectations! It had absolutely everything you would need for your holidays, perfectly well equipped, spotless clean and spacious. Very comfortable beds. Enclosed decking area is ideal for dogs. The lodge is located in a very peaceful part of the holiday park in a cul-de-suc and all we could hear was the birds :) The customer service is absolutely amazing and the welcome pack was very informative with all the details about the area and eating out places which we found very helpful. We really loved our stay there and the location is great too with about half an our drive from the main lakes.

Just returned from a week's stay at this lodge ( mature couple with 2 dogs ). We normally have a week abroad just before Christmas but due to the virus had to plan a different holiday. I guess we were a little nervous about the week but we needn't have worried as we had a brilliant time. The lodge is spotlessly clean with everything you need. Obviously the weather wasn't brilliant but we got some good walks in and had a couple of evening meals out. After the year with one of us working from home and the other working all hours due to being a key worker this break was just the tonic we needed, would recommend the lodge and the park is well sited.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Serenity lodge and were able to rest and relax. As a key worker we would like to thank you for all you have done this year and would love to welcome you back again if you would like to return to this area.

Love the sofa! Really enjoyed eating out on the veranda in the sun, knowing the dogs were safe as enclosed. Many thanks Rachel, would love to return. Joanna x

Lovely Lodge, clean and fully equipped for everything you need, 'It's a home from home' Beds so comfy you sleep with ease, especially with the sea air. Located in a lovely quiet cul-de-sac on site, lovely view from decking balcony. wifi very good connection, ideal for uploading the many photo's you will take whilst staying there. Rachel's Customer Service is first class, booking was done with ease, all required information was given relating to the booking in a welcome pack, that also provided things to do, places to see and all contact numbers of local places. She was very quick responding to any questions that arose, She even went that extra mile and made contact to check my family had arrived safe and asking if all was ok. Cost to rent was very acceptable, Personally I would say I'd have expected to have paid more for the Lodge compared to prices I have paid for other ones in the past., and happily would have paid extra. All in all a lovely lodge in a great location with great view, and an owner who puts you the customer 1st.

Thank you Paul for your beautiful review. We are so pleased you had a lovely week at Serenity Lodge. We have tried very hard to create a homely atmosphere where our guests can relax and enjoy their stay. We have found your lovely comments very encouraging. Thank you.
