“The caravan was lovely and the master bedroom in particular was spacious.”
It is well equipped. Could perhaps include an oven proof pie dish, but that is being a bit picky because everything else you might need is there. The air fryer is very dirty and I wouldn’t use it, but everywhere else was lovely and clean. The fenced garden was ideal for keeping our little dog safe and the decking area is nice for sitting out and relaxing in the sun, if you’re lucky enough to get some! The kingsize bed is very comfortable. The site is very quiet for July but we were there before the kids broke up from school. One of the facilities of the caravan is free wi fi. I couldn’t access this without a password. I did email the owner to ask for it but he never replied. Shortly after we arrived, we had a problem with the electrics tripping out. It was pitch dark and I was unable to find the fuse box in the caravan. I went to reception and found an out of hours emergency number to call. When I called the number and asked for someone to come out, I was shocked with the attitude of the man I spoke to and his wife. We are an elderly couple and both disabled. Groping around in the dark is hazardous for us. The wife was livid because I had woken them up. It was about 10.30, hardly the middle of the night! They refused to come out. When I persisted that it was dangerous for us and I was afraid I, or my husband might fall in the dark, the wife screeched at me “we don’t get a penny piece from your booking and you have woken us up”! She said if I wanted her husband to come out, there would be a £50 charge! I refused to pay it and told her I or my husband were at risk in the dark. I couldn’t find the caravan owners details because they were somewhere in the bags that we had not yet unpacked! Eventually, the man reluctantly agreed to come out. Five minutes later, the lights came on. I went outside and the man was there with his torch. The fuse box was outside the caravan at the back. He showed me what to do if the electrics tripped again, I thanked him and apologised for having to disturb him and his wife. I asked him why have an out of hours emergency number if no one is prepared to come out. He said an emergency was if the caravan was on fire and the electrics tripping out was not. I told him how hazardous it was for us in the dark because we are both disabled. He said “I’ve just watched you walk down those steps”. I was shocked and very angry. How dare he imply I was lying about being disabled because I managed to walk down the 4 steps of the caravan! My disability, caused by a spinal injury gives me many problems, just one of which is a dropped foot which means I cannot pick my foot up and this causes me to trip and fall over all the time. This man and his nasty wife really upset me. My husband recently had heart surgery and also has Alzheimer’s. I have to care for him too. This holiday was supposed to be a relaxing break for us and to help my husband’s recovery from his operation. The attitude of the man and his wife was disgusting and insulting. I could not stop crying afterwards. They spoiled our holiday from the start. We have had caravan holidays all over Britain for nearly 50 years and have never encountered this kind of attitude before. I am disgusted with these people. I would not even consider staying at this holiday park again. The caravan and it’s location is lovely but we had to cut short our holiday and return home due to my husband being very unwell. All in all this was not the holiday we were expecting and it was a relief to get home.
