Our lovely lodge, The Oaks (No.
85), is detached, modern.
stylishly decorated, and located in an open position in Woodlands Lodge Retreat, which is ideally situated near the beautiful harbour town of New Quay in Ceredigion.
Woodlands is a particularly dog-friendly site and is very popular with dog owners.
.
The park is located in a secluded valley surrounded by native woodland, and there is a lovely walk in the adjacent woods just a few minutes away from the lodge.
Please note that we are unable to take bookings if you have one of the following dogs as they are NOT PERMITTED on the park: X L Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino or Fila Brasileiro.
The area offers numerous outdoor activities, such as fishing, surfboarding and paddleboarding.
There are popular cycling routes and a fabulous coast path that meanders along some fantastic and diverse coastline.
It is famous for its seals and dolphin spotting boat trips from the harbour, and New Quay itself is like going back in time - a charming, unspoiled seaside resort with its pretty harbour and shops including ice cream parlours, fish and chips and other nice cafes.
eateries.
and a cocktail bar.
The Oaks sleeps up to 4 guests and comprises two bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, open plan kitchen, dining and living area offering a large social area with patio doors leading onto your private south-facing deck for alfresco dining (patio table settings provided) or you can eat and relax inside in the spacious living area watching the large TV (main streaming services available including Alexa).
It is just the place to catch up with some home cooking, take-away or dining out (shops in New Quay and Aberaeron, with its award winning restaurants, stock excellent frozen meals and the Lime Crab fish and chip takeaway in New Quay is first class), and to relax after a full day out, exploring the wonderful local area.
There is parking right outside the lodge (3 steps up to the decking) and the nearest garage and shop are 2 miles away.
The lodge has an open view across the park to the trees on the other side of the valley and sometimes the rabbits come out of the woods to play.
Nice suntrap of a sitting area on the 5 sided patio extension with patio furniture, outdoor crockery and sun umbrella - ideal for eating out at any time.
.
Chill out with a glass of something cold and some nibbles, and maybe watch the sunset in the evening or have breakfast outside and listen to the wonderful birdsong.
The two bedrooms sleep four persons with a king-sized bed and two full-size singles.
The en-suite to the main bedroom has a full-sized bath; the second en-suite has a shower.
TV's in both rooms (yes there are 3 altogether!) as well.
Mirrored wardrobe doors in the main bedroom complete the look.
Fully centrally heated and well-equipped with all the kitchen utensils and appliances you need.
Large American ice-making fridge freeze - enjoy the chilled, filtered water (great for making a proper nice mug of tea) with crushed or cubed ice on tap for cocktails or long drinks in the summer - microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee machine, gas hob and oven and dishwasher.
Separate washer/dryer in the utility room but there is also a payable launderette on-site with washers and dryers for larger loads.
You should have everything you need for your break including bed linen and towels which are provided at no extra cost.
There are paths through the woods for all to enjoy - pets and people - following the path of the river that adjoins the site.
Mountain biking is possible for the intrepid or just a gentle, level walk through the park to the woods and back may suffice.
Muddy paws - no problem as there is now a doggy shower (with warm water!) installed at the back of the site office which can be used by guests.
Visit the local Cei Bach beach - a 30-minute walk each way, or a 15 minute drive in the car there and back.
It’s a sweeping bay with a long, stony beach - great for dogs, not usually crowded and accessible for dogs all year round.
New Quay has two beaches, the smaller one is doggy accessible all year round but the larger one is prohibited to dogs in the summer.
Don’t forget to visit Aberaeron with its fabulous artisan shops, harbour and famous honey ice cream.
Around a 15 minute drive away it has several excellent eateries for that special night out, a nice river walk and an interesting harbour.
Aberystwyth, with its comprehensive shopping, sea frontage with evocative Victorian promenade and a Camera Obscura, and Cardigan with its pretty High Street, Theatr Mwldan (Mwldan Theatre) and steam railway are both around a 30 minute drive along the A487.
Devils Bridge is also well worth a look-see.
The Oaks is a lovely place to come away to, and we think it is ideally situated to enjoy the surrounding areas and the wonderful coastal villages and towns of Mid Wales.
