Northampton is a large market town resting within the East Midlands in the county of Northamptonshire and lying on the River Nene. Its history dates back to the Bronze Age, with the town growing during the industrial revolution and the arrival of the Grand Union Canal, allowing it to become a centre for footwear and leather manufacture. Nowadays, Northampton is home to a university, several parks and gardens, and some unique architecture, along with plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants and attractions.
