SALTCOATS

Kilmarnock 14.2 miles, Ayr 20.1 miles, Paisley 22.9 miles

Saltcoats is a small Scottish town, on the west coast of North Ayrshire. It has a takeaway, fish and chip shop, a few supermarkets and a café by the harbour. Stroll around the harbour, before venturing to the tranquil sandy beach of South Beach. Learn more about the local history with a trip to North Ayrshire Heritage Centre and jump on a ferry to easily reach Arran and Rothesay. Arran is an island in the Firth of Clyde where you can enjoy discovering a 19th century baronial castle and gardens, the Neolithic archaeological remains of Machrie Moor Standing Stones and a challenging hike to the top of Goatfell mountain. Explore the nearby Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park and have a day out visiting the towns of Kilmarnock, Ayr and Paisley, all within an hour's drive, as is the city of Glasgow.
