    “What a lovely lodge .”

.. we stayed here for a week from the 16/08/25 to the 23... on arrival there was bread milk and eggs which we thought was very kind and much appreciated. The lodge itself was very well presented and lovely and clean. The hot tub was a luxury and was lovely and relaxing on an evening after exploring the different seaside towns and villages and beachcombing on the various beaches .. The beach just across from the campsite is so nice and just a short walk..we swam here most days and spent hours ...

The hot tub was a luxury and was lovely and relaxing on an evening after exploring the different seaside towns and villages and beachcombing on the various beaches .. The beach just across from the campsite is so nice and just a short walk..we swam here most days and spent hours looking the beach for sea glass. The host's couldn't of been more helpful checking in to make sure we were happy with everything. I would thoroughly recommend this lodge if your looking for a quiet relaxing get away it's ideal and not too far from anywhere, the roads are so quiet .. would definitely stay here again thank you so much. Bliss!

Monreith is a tiny hamlet on the coast a few miles along from Port William, known as the ‘Machars of Galloway’ where there is a village shop, restaurant, and café.

Whilst in Port William you must stop and get a photograph with The Man!

This area of Dumfries and Galloway boasts rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches, which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream. Surrounded by breath taking scenery, Sunnyside Lodge offers an ideal base from which to explore the Machars Peninsula and the Galloway Hills.

There are many beautiful gardens to visit, including the renowned Logan Botanical Gardens, which is a paradise to behold.

As well as Port William you can also explore quaint villages such as Sandhead, Portpatrick and the Isle of Whithorn. A visit to the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point and home to the RSPB nature reserve, where thousands of seabird’s nests on the cliff face during spring and summer.

Sunnyside Lodge is a short drive from Wigtown, which is famous for being Scotland’s National Book Town, a book lovers haven.

This is also a great destination for cycling, fishing, and golfing with St Medans 9-hole golf course and beach practically on your doorstep

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

About the location

No village

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
