“My wife and I together with our dog stayed at Bigland View caravan at Black Beck farm for two weeks in June this year.”

From our initial booking in September 2024 the owner, Ann, was very helpful with any queries that we had. On arrival we noticed that the caravan was modern, clean and very well provided. There was even a Cartmel Stickey Toffee Pudding in the fridge. The caravan sits with two others in a private area of the site and has really nice views over the beautiful surrounding countryside. The site is a nice mix of mown grass areas where caravans, motorhomes may pitch, a large camping area and the rest of the the site has been left for wild flora to grow. Over our two weeks the site was quiet, and relaxed. We had problem with the parasol and within 30 minutes Ann and Neil were with us bringing a new parasol for our decking. They are a lovely couple and always ready for a chat. The farm fresh eggs were delicious too. The site is only 10-15 minutes easy walk to the White Hart in Bouth, which serves nice food. Having lived in the South Lakes the caravan provided us a lovely base from which to explore the area, and we have really enjoyed the holiday at Black Beck Farm and can well understand why the caravan has so many repeat bookings.

About the location

No village

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
