“We very much looking forward to staying here just from the pictures but we were even more impressed when we arrived.”

It instantly felt cozy like a home from home. Facilities were great and the peace and quiet of being in a quieter part was amazing, all you can really hear are the abundance of birds from the nearby water - very peaceful. Still not far away from the Ski Bar - only a 5 minute walk if that and only a little further into Haverigg for the shop/chippy etc. Rachel's communication was spot on, (we were provided with all the information we needed) even checking that we had arrived OK. You won't be ...

Enjoy an action packed break away with the new on site Aqua park. Take an challenging climb up one of the mountain peaks, relax on one of the many local beaches or take an invigorating walk around the many local nature reserves, seeing flora and fauna in season, birds of prey and other wildlife. Then enjoy wonderful home cooked food at the Ratty arms pub or a lovely meal at the parks ski bar after an exhilarating hour on the aqua park.

Or maybe relax with a hearty Sunday carvery at the Bear in the square.

Our privately owned lodge provides everything you need to enjoy a relaxing break away from your busy life.

The lodge is situated on the west coast of Cumbria surrounded by beautiful views of the lake, sea and mountains.

It is a walkers paradise and we therefore accept 2 well behaved dogs). The pricing is per night, commencing from any night.

There is a minimum of 2 nights policy at the lodge to as many as you wish.

A £50 booking deposit is required to secure your dates, please note that this is non refundable if you have to cancel.

The lodge has 3 bedrooms, sleeping up to 6 with 3 twin bedrooms.

In the main bedroom however the single beds are close together and can easily be used as a double.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a full size freezer and fridge, dishwasher and washing machine (dishwasher tablets, washing powder and cleaning products are supplied) along with all essentials eg.

toaster and tableware, a dining room with extending table and 6 chairs. A living room with a smart TV and electric fire plus a corner suit and 1 arm chair and 1 tub chair make it the perfect place to rest and relax.

The lodge has 2 bathrooms, 1 of which is a Jack and Jill to the main bedroom with a shower and toilet and the other with a bath, shower over bath and toilet.

The lodge has patio doors opening up to an enclosed decking which stretches from the main door to the front of the lodge allowing you to eat outside on the outdoor table and chairs or sit in the sun on the outdoor cushioned seating.

Gas and electric are included.

Beds are made up for your arrival with duck down duvets and pillows.

Towels and tea towels are also included.

Please bring your own towels for the beach and swimming pool.

A variety of board games and books are available in the lodge, and a BBQ in a storage shed outside. What is there to do? The park itself houses water sports on the lake including an inflatable labyrinth (prices not included), fly fishing and a play park for children.

The RSPB Hodbarrow Nature Reserve just a 5 minute walk ( a dog walkers paradise). Only a 15 minutes drive away is one of our personal favourite beaches at Silecroft.

The unique village of Ulverston is just a 40 minute drive with lots of lovely places to eat (we suggest trying Naaz, an Indian cuisine). Lake Coniston is a 50 minute drive and Lake Windermere just over an hour or if you prefer a quieter lake then Wast Water is only 50 minutes from the park. If you like trains and the railway Ravenglass is a great place to go with only a 30 minute drive, a great pub we recommend; The Ratty Arms and a small gauge steam railway.

Millom also has a train station going from Preston to Carlisle via Whitehaven; this, we find, is a lovely train ride, with Carlisle being a great place to shop and Whitehaven having a great harbour for crabbing and also several streets of shops both unique and chain.

Barrow is a 50 minute drive and a fantastic place to go for shopping, it has its own market and theatre which is worth checking out. If you just enjoy a ride out or looking at breath taking mountainous views there is The Hardknott Pass or The Wrynose Pass, both of which are beautiful, or if you're feeling more energetic try climbing the Scafell Pike which is less than an hours drive away.

Or have a round of golf at Silecroft or try out the heavy horses with a gallop on the beach. Where are some great places to eat? Millom has a wide selection of different cuisines; Indian, Chinese, Fish and Chips etc.

Da Vinci Restaurant is highly recommended.

We also recommend Naaz at Ulverston and The Ratty Arms at Ravenglass, as previously mentioned.

If you like steak the Punch Bowl at The Green should not be missed. These are only a few suggestions and there will be many more leaflets and recommendations in the Lodge upon your stay.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £50.

About the location

No village

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

This property offers the following short breaks:
