“We have been coming to Kelling Heath for the past 9 years and during that time we have stayed in five different caravans.”
Unfortunately, this one was the worst in terms of maintenance.
When we arrived, we found that the wooden extension door was sticking badly. I am currently recovering from surgery and needed my husband to open the door for me each time, which was difficult. We also felt this could be a fire hazard. We later noticed a note from the owners mentioning the issue. My husband, who is a carpenter, said it would only need a few millimetres shaved off, as wood can swell in colder weather.

We were also concerned about electrical issues. When turning the lights on, we heard sparking noises. Because of this, we stopped using some of the lights to avoid any risk of fire, and eventually the bedroom lights stopped working altogether. We also noticed marks on the kitchen counter in line with the electrical sockets that looked like previous fire damage.
There was a note about a faulty hot water tap. Someone came to look at it but said the owners needed to replace it. After that visit, the tap would not stop running and my husband had to fix it himself.
When we tried to hoover the next day, we realised it was not working properly and was just moving dirt around. My husband checked it and found it was completely full of dirt, including the filter and the head. He cleaned and fixed it so it would work.
There were also other issues: the internal kitchen doors were sticking, the kitchen fan was not working, and there were problems with the main shower.
As more small problems appeared, it began to feel like nothing was working properly, which affected our overall experience. We did report some of the issues to customer services, but going back every day would have felt stressful and not very relaxing.
As dog owners, we also found that the small garden gate was difficult to close and open. I was unable to manage it easily, and as the caravan is not fully enclosed, this made it less comfortable.
We were also disappointed with the cleanliness. The pillows smelled damp, like mouldy washing. We bring our own duvet covers and blankets, but not pillows.
On a positive note, the caravan is spacious, the bedroom is very comfortable and cosy, and the phone signal and TV reception are good.
However, as this is advertised as a “Gold” caravan at the higher price range, we were very surprised and disappointed by the overall standard of maintenance and cleanliness.
