“I stayed in this caravan with my husband and grown up children from 19 -26 August and was very disappointed with it bearing in mind the cost of £1200+ for the week (we had to stay in a caravan that accepted groups because we were four adults).”
Communication with the owner was limited and short. On arrival I hadn't been given the four digit code for the keysafe, I phoned the telephone number on UK Caravans website but it was unobtainable so I emailed. After waiting approximately 30 minutes for a response I went to the Haven office who telephoned and left a message (on a different phone number). The owner then emailed the keysafe number .
On entering the caravan there was a awful smell so we promptly opened all windows to try to help the situation, but it did not. We went to buy air freshener and fabreeze which helped a little. We decided that we would only use the caravan as a base because we could not stand the smell and we didn't see the point of emailing the owner as what could or would she do.
The cleanliness of the caravan left a lot to be desired in my opinion . Cups and glasses needed cleaning thoroughly before use. There was no way we would eat or cook in the caravan just hot and cold drinks so I cannot comment on the rest of the crockery pans microwave or cooker.
The windows were in need of cleaning, outside the patio table had something red and sticky spilt on it which I cleaned up, the ashtray was overflowing which was left as it was as none of us smoke.
The caravan was advertised as having wifi but this needed to be reset and there was a sticker saying if reset connection would be lost as passwords were required. As we intended to only use the caravan as a base we did not see the point of contacting the owner about this, and having to hang about in the caravan longer than necessary.
The wardrobe in the double bedroom was of little use as it was packed with bedding.
By the end of the week we deduced that the smell was coming from the carpet in the sitting/dining area.
After having been caravanning for over thirty years this experience has led me to come to a decision never stay in a caravan again. I felt let down and severly out of pocket .
