“My husband and I visited last week with our two grandsons, along with my sister and her son.”

The accommodation was very good although I do have a few suggestions (not complaints), within the shower room there is nowhere for towels, a rail or hook would be great. The kitchen could do with a chopping board to save worktops and one of the twin rooms has one bed bigger than other leaving no room at all between the beds. We did not spend a lot of time actually at Haggerston Castle as I was not too impressed by the camp, found it to be overly expensive. We went to Berwick Leisure Centre ...

We went to Berwick Leisure Centre which was fantastic, the pool was great for boys, ages 11, 7 and 4, all had fun. The soft play there was also good and prices reasonable, the staff were lovely and helpful. We all spent a day at Seahouses on the beach which was lovely. All not too far from base. The boys did go horse riding at Haggerston which they loved but was very expensive, although probably will be needed for the upkeep of the lovely horses. For the time we spent in the caravan it suited.our needs, was in a nice quiet area and was great for the boys.

About the location

No village

Chatsworth 1 mile; Bakewell 5 miles.

The pretty village of Baslow lies at the north end of stately Chatsworth House - home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The village has many unusual and picturesque features including a triple-arched river bridge guarded by a toll house whose doorway is only 3 1/2 feet high! Baslow offers a range of village amenities including shops, pubs and restaurants. Close by is Bakewell, the capital of the Peak District, and home of the famous Bakewell pudding (definitely not tart!), still made locally to an old and secret recipe. Bakewell is at the scenic heart of the Peak District, and with Alton Towers also within easy touring distance, there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
