Holy Island 2 miles; Berwick 9 miles.

Beal is a tiny hamlet in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just a mile away from the causeway to Holy Island. This scattered hamlet, known locally as the gateway to Lindisfarne, is in an ideal position for touring North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Within easy reach of the A1, Beal has good access to all of the area's attractions - wonderful beaches, historic castles and Holy Island, which is just two miles away. Those who enjoy the great outdoors will be delighted with the Northumbrian Coastal Trail, which runs through Beal and onwards down the Heritage Coast offering stunning scenery along the way. Beal is within easy reach of both St Oswald's Way and St Cuthbert's Way and there are some great birdwatching sites nearby. Seahouses is close by or you can spend a day visiting Farne Island by boat where you may catch a glimpse of seals and puffins. The golden sandy beaches at Beal are home to many seals and seabirds, plus The Barn at Beal is an excellent attraction for birdwatching and has a first class coffee shop, farm shop and restaurant.
