“We enjoyed our week in the Lodge with wonderful views of the sea.”

The lodge had just about everything we needed and was clean and welcoming. The beds were comfy and the bedding clean. Bathroom facilities were fine - although there was a feint whiff of drains - not unbearable but noticeable nonetheless. Our party consisted of an oldie; son and granddaughter and 2 dogs and the spacious lodge meant we weren't all tripping over each other!! The lodge is sited right at the end so only 1 neighbour who was very nice and chatty and pointed out places to visit for us ...

A lovely relaxing week by the coast in a lovely lodge. |Wish we could have stayed longer. Recommended.

The property

A modern and welcoming high spec three bedroomed lodge, perfect for a coastal getaway!

The best pitch on site for wrap around coastal and sea views.

Sit on the veranda with a glass of wine, watching the ships, looking for dolphins or even catching the Northern Lights during the dark winter nights. The lodge is located at Crimdon Dene Holiday Park (Parkdean) in the private owner’s section, meaning it is in the quiet part of the park, and its premium pitch is located at the furthest corner of the park, with open coastal views to the front and side.

To the rear it has the wildlife reserve and so is not overlooked.

The lodge has a full wrap around veranda to allow you to enjoy these uninterrupted views.

There is stepped access to the beach just along from the lodge, although the majority of the park access the beach by the sloped access at the other end of the park.

There is private parking outside the lodge. In the winter season, when the holiday park is closed (from November), this is a beautiful, peaceful, tranquil spot where you can just spend time unwinding, relaxing and enjoying the uninterrupted seaviews, cosy in the warm and comfortable lodge.

There is also the beautiful Durham Heritage Coast to explore, as well as Hartlepool, Durham and up to Northumberland. The park opens for February half-term and then from the end of March until the end of October and guests can purchase entertainment passes from Parkdean if they wish to enjoy the swimming pool, restaurant, and entertainment programme. The lodge has full central heating, double glazing and an inviting flame-effect electric fire, ensuring that it is warm and comfortable in the colder months.

As well as the fire, the lounge has a sofa, armchairs, TV and DVD player, and built in Bluetooth speaker system.

Adjacent is a spacious dining area with table and chairs for up to 6.

The beautiful kitchen makes self-catering easy with a modern, well-equipped kitchen with integrated fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, gas hob and double oven.

The washer/tumbler is located in a utility cupboard to the right of the front door which also has space for coats, boots and shoes. The master bedroom comprises of a king-size bed, dressing table, and wardrobe.

It has an adjoining en-suite shower room/WC.

There are two further bedrooms both with twin full size single beds, dressing table and wardrobe.

The main bathroom has a modern bath, overhead shower and w/c. Crimdon Dene is located on Durham’s Heritage coast, situated between the historic ports of Hartlepool and Seaham.

Close to transport hubs and good road and rail networks, you have ready access to the stunning coastline of Northumberland in the north, or the bright lights and shopping meccas of Newcastle upon Tyne and the Gateshead Metro Centre; to the rolling hills of the Pennines National Park in Teesdale to the west; while to the south you have easy access to the North Yorkshire Moors and Dales National Parks.

In between you have host of attractions that will appeal to all ages. For those who enjoy the outdoors, there is every opportunity to go walking, as well as just relaxing on the sandy beaches of Crimdon Dene, or enjoying tea and cakes in the cafes of Seaham. There is lots to entertain children and the adults.

These include, The Ice Arena and Go climb at Billingham; The Air Trail and white water rafting at the Tees Barrage; Karting NE at Sunderland and the Beamish Museum to name but a few.

For those with an interest in history the Maritime museum at Hartlepool boasts the oldest warship still afloat.

About the location

HARTLEPOOL

Durham 18.1 miles; Saltburn-by-the-Sea 30 miles; Whitby 50.1 miles.

The coastal town of Hartlepool lies north of the Tees estuary, with the North York Moors to the south and the majestic cathedral town of Durham, a short drive to the North West. There has been huge investment in regeneration projects and Hartlepool now offers an award-winning marina, with associated trendy restaurants and bars overlooking stunning yachts and sea going cruisers. In the heart of the town there is a multiplex cinema, a health and fitness centre with swimming pool and Middleton Grange shopping centre, which is the third largest in the region, with a traditional market hall. Other attractions include the HMS Tricomalee - Nelson's last fighting frigate and the Heugh Battery Museum. Seaton Carew beach and its associated demanding golf course lies two miles down the coast and a short drive brings you to Saltholme RSPB Reserve, where seals and wading birds are regularly spotted. The more adventurous will be attracted to the impressive Teesside White Water Centre, whilst others may prefer a quiet walk along the Tees riverside walk. Beamish open air museum is within easy reach, near Durham city and well worth a day trip. Hartlepool provides a good base for those wishing to sample a novel corner of Britain, combining the beauty of the coastal waters with the rich industrial heritage of former times.
