    “The accommodation was very clean and is on a lovely, well maintained site just a walk of a mile or so over the coastal path to the beautiful village of Portpatrick.”

    The heating was very efficient and easy to operate and the shower is excellent. Whilst we had a very enjoyable stay there a couple of simple things that could be improved in my opinion. All glasses were the same small size apart from one tumbler; a couple of wine glasses and another tumbler would be nice. A liner was fitted to the rubbish bin but there were no spares and you will fill the bin in a one week stay. The final thing was a total lack of information. Nothing about where to take the ...

Nothing about where to take the rubbish, whether to recycle or not and who to contact on site if necessary. We had power cuts on a particularly stormy day and there was initially no-one at reception to ask about the situation although it was resolved in an hour or so. I would not put anyone off staying here, but a couple of little touches could help.

Dating back some 500 years, the fishing village of Portpatrick features a small rocky bay, sheltered by cliffs, and was once a thriving seaport. Today known as the 'Jewel in the Crown of Galloway', it boasts a variety of stunning cliff-top walks, secluded bays and beaches, and a fine selection of harbour-side pubs, restaurants and gift shops. At the south end of the village visitors can find the Lighthouse Pottery, offering stunning views of the area, and evoking the sense of an amphitheatre, with a line of attractive buildings stretching across the skyline. Portpatrick is also home to one of the 30 life-boat stations in Scotland, offering an exhibition that is well worth a visit. There is an excellent beach with launching ramp, both rock and freshwater fishing, and several boats, which transport sea anglers out from the harbour to catch warsse, cod, mackerel, whiting, plaice and skate. With golfing, bowling, and tennis facilities close by, Portpatrick is the perfect location for a relaxing break.
