“We've just enjoyed a fabulous week's stay at the mallard.”

The lodge was spotless on arrival! With lovely helpful touches like tea and coffee to get you started, snacks, washing up liquid, cloths and tea towels. Not to mention a toilet roll in each bathroom! Luxury! The onsite facilities were also top notch! The lakeside bar was only open on our first night but staff were extremely friendly and super helpful. We would have been back every night if it was open (only open Fri/sat/sun outside local school holidays). Our son loved the two play areas as well as the telephone box of books, dvds and games/puzzles to borrow during our stay! The lake was beautiful and perfect for an evening walk! My husband was gutted he'd not brought his clubs for the golf! It looked great! All round a lovely stay which we would highly recommend! Can't wait to return!

“This was our second stay at Mallard.”

The caravan itself was exceptionally clean, very comfortable and equipped with everything you need. It has a lovely outlook towards the golf course. The park itself is immaculately maintained and inspite of a very wet week even walks around the lake with the dog were very enjoyable without coming back muddy as I had expected. The area has plenty to offer from pretty villages, interesting towns and lovely scenery. All in all a wonderful relaxing holiday. We will be back.

“This was the 2nd time we stayed in mallard.”

It's a wonderfully clean, spacious and well equipped holiday home. Pearl lake is the best, most peaceful, and beautiful holiday park we have ever visited. We have fallen in love with the area too with so many places of interest, gorgeous towns, and stunning countryside of both England and Wales within easy reach. 5 star holiday. We will be back.

“The caravan we stayed in was immaculate, it was larger than we expected and the small welcome hamper was a lovely touch.”

The site is quiet and well kept and we liked seeing the geese in the mornings, we ate at the clubhouse one night and the food was tasty and plentiful. The location of the site is great for visiting some of the other beautiful surrounding towns and villages.

Mallard is a well-presented, single-storey lodge situated on the Pearl Lake Country Park, in Shobdon, Herefordshire.

Offering easy links to the Welsh border, this inviting lodge is a wonderful base for family and friends looking to escape to this charming region.

Step into the open-plan living space and make yourself at home; relax on the sofa, flick on the electric fire and tune into the TV as you think about the adventures to come, or cross over to the kitchen and whip up something delicious, assisted by a range of appliances.

Dine alfresco style upon the decking, complimented by a glass of wine, before escaping to the shower room for a freshen up.

When you're ready to call it a day, head to either the double or twin bedroom, both neutrally presented and featuring a set of drawers for storing your personal belongings.

About the location

SHOBDON

Hereford 17 miles; Leominster 6 miles.

The pleasant village of Shobdon lies between the historic market towns of Leominster and Presteigne, and is surrounded by beautiful Herefordshire countryside, close to the Welsh borderlands. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, Shobdon has a village shop, an excellent pub/restaurant, and even a private airfield, providing a rare opportunity to learn how to fly helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. Leominster, dating back to the 7th century possesses some fine examples of architecture including the Priory Church, along with a wide selection of shops, cafes, antiques centres and pubs - an ideal place to spend an afternoon. Close by are many National Trust properties including Croft Castle and Berrington Hall, plus the Judge's Lodgings in Presteigne, Stokesay Castle, the renowned Shropshire Discovery Centre and the Acton Scott Historic Farm. Sample Herefordshire's cider or discover Hereford with its fascinating Mappa Mundi world map and the captivating chained library, home to a collection of rare and ancient books.
