Holiday Parks in Scarborough

The jewel in the crown of the North East of England, Scarborough is well worth a visit and must be on any self-respecting Brit’s holiday bucket list. This appealing coastal town offers everything from traditional seaside attractions, an intriguing history, golden sands, spectacular coastline views, and the best fish and chips you’ll find anywhere.

Why Book A Caravan Holiday in Scarborough?

Famous for its incredible beaches, which are split into the beautiful north and south bays, Scarborough claims to be the UK’s first seaside resort, when it was known as ‘Scarborough Spa’ and was famous for its healing waters.

Modern-day Scarborough has all the usual seaside delights any discerning beachgoer would expect, including amusement arcades, golden sands, a harbour and coastal views to die for. Visitors can easily while away a day in the town strolling along the captivating beaches, trying their luck in the amusement arcades, browsing around the shops or stopping off for a bite to eat at any one of several fantastic eateries.

With a dramatic and bloody 3,000-year history, a trip to Scarborough Castle is a must, and the minute you step through the gatehouse entrance to the castle, it is like taking a trip back in time. Explore the castle ruins, follow the walls around the headland and step onto a viewing platform to immerse yourself in the simply sublime panoramic views along the Jurassic coastline. An audio tour gives a comprehensive history of the castle and if all that history has left you thirsty, stop off at the Coffee Shed for a drink and a snack before you leave.

Scarborough is known for being a lively, vibrant town, but don’t worry – if you want to get away from it all and take time out for some peace and quiet - then Scarborough can still deliver. A short walk from the town centre is the enchanting Peasholm Park, an oriental-themed park perfect for a family outing. This award-winning park is dog-friendly and boasts a delightful collection of streams and waterfalls, mini-bridges and magical gardens, making it the ideal spot for a gentle stroll with your holiday party.

During the summer months, the infamous reenactment of the ‘Battle of Peasholm’ is recreated on the lake, where replica naval warships go head-to-head, and the bandstand is home to summer concerts, ensuring that when the sun is shining, the park is bursting with life.

Places To Visit During Caravan Holidays In Scarborough

Hire a boat or a dragon-themed pedalo and head out onto the lake where you can soak up the beautiful surroundings of the park. There is even a putting green and a café to stop off at for refreshments. The park also boasts an impressive selection of wildlife and bird life, including squirrels, swans and geese.

For nature of a different kind, check out Sealife Scarborough, where visitors can be entertained by creatures of the underwater variety and with more than 2,500 sea creatures on show, there is never a dull moment!

Take a trip to Penguin Island, Coral Cove and Otter River, find out about the rescue, recovery and return to the wild of seals at the Seal Hospital, trek through the Rainforest Adventure area and learn more about this fascinating part of the world and be amazed by the centre’s Ocean Tunnel, which holds 156,000 litres of water and all kinds of fish and sharks. Kids can run off any excess energy at the outdoor adventure play area and the mini-golf course, which isn’t just for children, of course!

Young or old, Scarborough has a unique appeal that keeps people coming back time and time again.
