For rail enthusiasts, Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway provides 7-miles of spectacular scenery, the line runs from Ravenglass to Dalegarth Station near Boot in the valley of Eskdale. Or travel back in time at Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, jump aboard the train at Haverthwaite Station and enjoy views from your carriage up to Lakeside; the southern tip of Lake Windermere.

Situated by the Hodbarrow Lagoon & RSPB Nature reserve, this beautiful location is perfect for bird watchers and nature lovers alike. With its abundant wildlife and surrounding scrub and grassland it is home to songbirds, rare plants and natterjack toads whilst marsh and bee orchids add colour to the flower-rich grasslands. The 4-mile circular walk around the lake is dog friendly and pushchair-friendly and ideal for runners and cyclists alike.
